There are no prerequisites to join the Professional Scrum Master training (PSM1) training. Any professional who wants to advance their career in Product development, delivering projects, using Agile and Scrum can join this program. We ask you to go through some basic reading material to get a high level understanding of Scrum.
There are 2 ways to obtain PSM1 certification. One is to directly pay the exam fee at scrum.org (USD 150) and attempt the exam, upon successful completion of exam you can get certification. Another is to undergo a formal training conducted by an authorized Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) and your exam fee also will be included in that fee. After the training you will get the exam link and you will have to attempt it and then get the certification.
PSM Training will be done in different durations. Usually it will be a 2 days training from 9AM IST to 5PM IST. Sometimes it will be conducted from 8AM IST to 4 PM IST. Another pattern is a 3 day schedule during the evening India time, 6PM IST to 11 PM IST. This is to help the USA, Canada, Europe and other APAC countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong.

PSM1 exam will have 80 questions with a time duration of 60 minutes. You have to get 85% to pass the exam. There will be only 1 free attempt included in the fee you pay for the training or when you directly buy the exam credit.
Yes, you can attempt the PSM1 certification exam without Training. However, we recommend going through a training based exam so that you will get an in-depth understanding of the concepts that helps you to attempt the exam confidently.
Before COVID-19 we used to conduct physical classroom training. During the COVID-19 Scrum Alliance approved to conduct Live Virtual training. Our live virtual training is conducted through the Zoom platform. Our live virtual training is equally interactive and engaging. We also have occasional physical classroom training also.
No, PSM1 will be lifetime free certification. You don’t need to renew it.
